We serve Ottawa and all surrounding communities including Barrhaven, Kanata, Nepean, Orléans, Gloucester, Manotick, Stittsville, Findlay Creek, Greely, and Riverside South. If you're in the greater Ottawa region and aren't sure whether we cover your area, give us a call — chances are we do.
Yes. AMA United Company is a fully licensed general contractor operating in Ottawa, Ontario. We carry comprehensive liability insurance on every project. Proof of insurance is available on request.
Yes — all estimates are completely free with no obligation. We visit your property, assess your project in person, and provide a detailed written quote. We don't provide ballpark estimates over the phone without seeing the site first, because every property is different.
AMA United Company has been serving Ottawa homeowners and businesses for over 10 years. In that time we've completed 500+ projects and been recognized as one of Ottawa's top vinyl fencing contractors.
No. Every job is performed by our own trained crew. We do not outsource labour to subcontractors. This means consistent quality on every project and a single point of accountability — you work with us from first call to final walkthrough.
All our installations carry a 2-year workmanship warranty. If anything fails as a result of our installation within two years, we return and fix it at no charge. PVC and vinyl materials carry a lifetime manufacturer's warranty. Composite decking materials carry brand-specific warranties of 25–30 years.
Fencing
Ottawa bylaw allows up to 7 feet (approximately 2.1 metres) for a backyard fence. Front yard fences are generally limited to 1 metre. Corner lot rules may differ. We check all bylaw requirements as part of our free consultation.
Pricing depends on material and project length. Chain link starts from approximately $40 per linear foot. PVC/vinyl starts from $75 per linear foot. Wood falls in between. Ornamental iron and steel are premium-priced. All quotes are itemized and provided free of charge after an on-site visit.
PVC fencing doesn't crack, rot, warp, or fade — even through Ottawa's extreme winters. It requires near-zero maintenance (no staining, painting, or sealing) and carries a lifetime material warranty. Over a 10–20 year period, the total cost of ownership of PVC is typically lower than wood, even though the upfront cost is higher.
We assist with permit applications where required by the City of Ottawa. Most standard residential backyard fences do not require a permit, but we verify this during the consultation phase and handle the paperwork if a permit is needed.
Most residential fence installations are completed in 1–2 days. Larger properties, complex layouts with multiple gates, or significant grade changes may require an extra day. We give you a realistic timeline before any work begins.
Yes. We fabricate and install matching walk gates and double drive-through gates for all fence types. Hardware options include standard hinges, auto-latch, and lockable deadbolt-style latches. Automated gate systems are available for commercial projects.
Decks
In Ottawa, decks more than 24 inches (600mm) above grade typically require a building permit. We assist with permit applications as part of our service — we know the City's requirements and handle the paperwork so you don't have to.
Composite decking is our most popular choice — homeowners love the low-maintenance, long-lasting finish. Pressure-treated wood remains the top pick for budget-conscious builds. PVC decking is growing in popularity for its fully waterproof properties and lifetime warranty.
Composite and PVC decks last 25–50 years with minimal maintenance. Pressure-treated wood decks last 15–20 years when properly sealed and maintained every 2–3 years. The structural framing, when built to code with treated lumber and proper footings, typically outlasts the decking surface.
Absolutely. We custom-design every deck around your yard's unique conditions — trees, slopes, garden beds, air conditioning units, and existing structures. We see these as design opportunities rather than obstacles.
Most deck installations are completed in 3–7 days depending on size and complexity. Multi-level decks or those requiring pergolas and custom railings may take longer. We confirm the full timeline in writing before starting any work.
Interlock & Renovations
Most interlock driveways take 2–4 days depending on size and whether demolition of existing material is required. Patios and walkways are typically completed in 1–2 days. We confirm the timeline in your written quote before any work begins.
Yes. Demolition and removal of existing concrete, asphalt, or old interlock is included in our quotes. We have the equipment to break up and haul away old material completely — your property is left tidy at the end of each work day.
Yes — interlock is actually better suited to Ottawa's climate than concrete or asphalt. Individual paving stones flex through freeze-thaw cycles without developing stress cracks. The key is proper base preparation: crushed stone compacted to the right depth. We never cut corners on the base.
We handle kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement finishing, exterior siding and trim, eavestrough and soffit replacement, interior finishing (flooring, drywall, paint, trim), and general contracting for larger multi-trade renovation projects across Ottawa.
Most basement finishing projects in Ottawa require a building permit, especially those involving new bedrooms, bathrooms, or changes to electrical and plumbing. We assess permit requirements during the consultation and assist with applications as part of our service.
